WHAT STATUE TO THE CITY? (2006)

_The initiative What statue for the city? (2006) was to express a critical opinion of a young generation of artists, theoreticians and art consumers towards overloading of space with production of a tourist kitsch. There was organised a discussion and walk in an Old Town of Bratislava, where a broader audience could articulate their opinion on a topic with regard to the particular examples. Participants commented on different sculptures by answering the questionnaire. Organizers explained their position concerning the public space in Bratislava to the mayor of the city Andrej Ďurkovský. Further more, the call was addresssed to some other Slovakian cities, as well (Bratislava, Banská Bystrica, Košice, Prešov, Trenčín, Žilina). Official responses came only from the mayor of Prešov and the Department of Architecture and Planning of the city of Trenčín.
